My name is Debelien Silva Lopes, born to African parents who emigrated from Cape Verde to the Netherlands in the early 80s.
As a little girl I have always been highly sensitive and intuitive, I was able to connect with the unseen world. It felt like there was more to life, to truly live it we have to accept both spiritual and physical world.
Somewhere along the growing up and becoming an adult, falling in love and maneuvering my way through life. I “lost” the connection to the Spirit world, and when I say “lost”, I really mean I started to suppress it. I would see things others wouldn’t see, feel things others would not and hear things that only I could hear. It started to feel like, I was the odd one of my friends and family. So I asked Spirit to leave me alone, and that is what they did… Until…
Life started to catch up on me, situations happened and I found myself a few years later looking for a deeper connection. No actually, longing for a deeper connection. And this deeper connection, was about me, the path to my own heart. When I turned 13 my mother took me to a Curandera (Healer), who started to work in my energy field. Without her touching my body, I felt such a relieve, Spirit was right there waiting for me to just finally choose my path.
This took me a few more years, but eventually I started to listen to the dream realms and nature. I found my way to the plant allies and the magic of the energetic world. Or better yet, it found me. I started to reconnect with Spirit. This time from a more rooted and authentic place. I walked into the path of sacred ceremony with plant medicine and the veil was lifted, since then everything has been falling into place, in a very organic spiritual way. And just WOW.
It is truly a journey to sit with ancient wisdom, understanding ancestry and plant my roots deeper. Asking questions and researching my ancestors and their stories as a Cape Verdean, has opened doors to my North African, West African, Indigenous, but also European lineage, in ways only a true connection to Spirit can.
